Default x4100 auto power-on

My x4100 does not power-on when power is first applied. I have to
push the button to get it started.

- What is the ILOM equivalent to pushing the power button?
- How to make it automatically start?

thanks

I don't know a thing about ALOM but I read this a bit up in the NG, hope
it helps.

From the ALOM:
setsc sc_powerstatememory true

or from the running system as root:
/usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin/scadm set sc_powerstatememory true

start /SYS (Yes, is is case sensitive)

No idea--but I'd also like to know! My guess is that the machine
remembers it's most recent state, so that if the power goes off
unexpectedly it will power on automatically, but if you power it
off manuaully before pulling the plug(s) it will remember this and
you'll have to do a start /SYS (but that's just a guess).

x4100 has ILOM, not ALOM.

Mine does not power on automatically at all, regardless of how it
lost power.

There is a BIOS setting for this - I cannot remember where.... And
being a 'PC' you cannot look at or change these settings with the OS
running (unlike OBP/ALOM). Or can you? - please shout up if there is
a way!

.... but thankfully there is documentation to remind me
what the BIOS screens look like:

http://www.sun.com/products-n-soluti...19-1157-12.pdf

Section 2.4.4.31, Chipset -> Southbridge -> Restore Power

Cheers,

Nigel

Couldn't agree more. ALOM's "poweron" is MUCH more intuitive.
