| Hi, I have a B180L+ machine and it seems that some parts are missing. The picture on http://www.openpa.net/systems/images/b132_io-slot.jpg shows some kind of assembly to mount a fan and a speaker, while I only have a speaker and there's no obvious way to mount it. Does someone have a photo or sketch how this is supposed to be mounted? Perhaps I can make something similar and add a fan to it. I guess that's a bit healthier for the machine than without any airflow inside... Thanks in advance, -- Maurice |

Never mind, I found the manuals on the openpa.net website and they are very clear about it is supposed to be mounted. -- Maurice |

I fully agree, so I installed two fans with some double sided tape. Not the best way to mount them, but it'll do for now. Unfortunately, I have no idea if the machine has been running without the fans by the previous owner(s). It seems to work fine though, so let's hope there's no damage... -- Maurice |

I'm sure we had a dead b132 which just had a bad fan. -- Who needs a life when you've got Unix? :-) Email: john@unixnerd.demon.co.uk, John G.Burns B.Eng, Bonny Scotland Web : http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk - The Ultimate BMW Homepage! Is this monitored by HP-UX or in hardware? The systems came without disk and I installed OpenBSD on a new disk. So I've never seen it running HP-UX. >I'm sure we had a dead b132 which just had a bad fan. I had it running without the two big fans for a few minutes and it didn't complain. So perhaps the CPU fan or (less likely) the drive bay fan is being monitored? -- Maurice |
