Default Hard disk problem on PrecisionBook

Hi,
I just got a PrecisionBook off eBay, it's the 12" screen, 160MHz
model, it works OK except that one of the hard disks makes a clunking
noise, and does not show up in ioscan, or anything else. If I switch
the disks in their bays, it does not boot, nor does it boot if I 'boot
ALT'.

Any tips/advice?

Another couple of things:

How do I get it to boot right into the CDE login? Right now it boots
to a console login.

Can PrecisionBooks 'sleep' or anything? Right now it's either on or
off.

Sometimes there are artifacts on the screen, particularly on the
incredibly old version of Netscape that cam with it (HP-UX 11), is
this normal?

Thanks

Garry

Somewhat. You can have the "lcdblank" daemon running, which acts
as a screen saver ... after a configurable period of keyboard/mouse
inactivity, it blanks the screen. (OTOH, on mine, I haven't figured
out how to unblank it locally ... I've had to telnet in from another
computer and run: lcdblank -o to turn the screen back on

Don't know ... haven't seen any, but I haven't run the old Netscape either.
