Perhaps my memory is failing me, but I strongly doubt that there was a HP-UX 3.2 for the HP 9000 systems with a Motorola 68030 (probably Series 200 or Series 300). If there was, then I strongly doubt that it had SCSI. So please give some more details about the system. Minimum "uname -a" output and the (*full*) product name and product number of the system. The product number is probably on the back and probably is four or five digits with a letter. If there are more of such numbers, then give them all. |

If there was, then I strongly doubt that it had SCSI. I believe that Frank is correct - my recollection is that HP-UX 3.X was the release range for the PA-RISC Unix systems - the HP 9000 Series 800's. The 68K-based workstations ran stuff like 6.5 prior to the "merging of the release stream names" with either 8.0 or 7.0 (I cannot remember which that was). It would not surprise me if the comp.sys.hp.hpux FAQ had something on the topic, nor would it surprise me if "HP-UX history" as a search in google could find useful stuff on that score. Also, not all the HP 68K-based systems had SCSI interfaces. Some of them used HP-IB instead - although by the time 68030's were in the workstations I think they started having SCSI. (Slow, Narrow, Single-Ended SCSI that is...) rick jones -- oxymoron n, Hummer H2 with California Save Our Coasts and Oceans plates these opinions are mine, all mine; HP might not want them anyway... feel free to post, OR email to raj in cup.hp.com but NOT BOTH... |

I think they will run 9.0x, depends on if it is an Apollo or HP-Apollo. |

Around the acquisition timeframe the current Domain rev was SR10.3, and the current HP-UX rev was 8.01/8.05 for the 700 series (snakes) workstations, 8.0 (I think) for 800 series servers. This was 1990-1991. The 800 series were still HP-IB at that point, I think, and the 700 series had single ended SCSI as Rick correctly notes. HP-UX 3.x (if indeed that's what we're talking about) is almost certainly for a pre-SCSI machine, and most likely pre-68030 as noted. Domain/OS was its own beastie, but had compatibility layers for both BSD and SysV Unix flavors, btw. - Greg -- Greg Cagle gregc at gregcagle dot com |

I will say though that was one of the most interesting machines I ever worked on. |
