| Hi, (This is *BELOW* the level of HP-UX, at the "PDC" prompt) The HP 9000/712 has a "date" command in the firmware ... which appears to let you set the RTC date/time. Unfortunately, a "HELP" at the PDC (firmware) prompt fails to show the "date" command (although it shows most of the rest of the commands), and attempted "date" commands are rejected. From the firmware: ... Path [pri|alt] [lan.id|SCSI.addr] Change boot path Pim [hpmc|toc|lpmc] Display PIM info Search [ipl] [scsi|lan [install]] Display potential boot devices Secure [on|off] Display or set security mode Console <graphics|rs232> Change console Date [cen:yr:m:d:h:min:s] Display or set the real time clock Peek <address> [sz] [len] Read memory or I/O locations ... Commands past "Secure" don't seem to show up on my 712 So...how can I access that "date" command? This is really annoying, because I just put a new clock battery in (CR2325) and I want to set the hardware clock (RTC) to the correct GMT date/time *before* booting into HP-UX. (Yeah, I know that if the RTC gets initialized to a low/early date, then the HP-UX "File System" date will take precedence ... but I'm not *sure* it gets initialized to such a value ... and I want to play safe by setting the clock first!) I tried booting the diagnostics disc and running CLKUTIL, but it fails to read the RTC ... perhaps it wasn't intended for the 700 series. BTW, I'd also like to be able to use the "console rs232" command thanks, Stan |
