| Hi I just got a c3000 (without an OS), and downloaded what I believe are 2 hpux 11i cds. When I turn on the machine and try to boot from the CDs, it crashes randomly and reboots. Tried installing Linux (debian, gentoo), but I get keybdev problems and it says the kernel can't initialize my USB core, so I can't use my keyboard. Now, I am VERY new to pa-risc, and am not even totally sure that 11i is compatible with the hardware. In any case, is there a place I can go download a compatible operating system? I would prefer to run hpux on it. Is this a common problem? Is 11i compatible? Do I need to provide more information? Thanks, Tony G. |

Well, I don't know what You downloaded but HP-UX is payware, that means You can't download it for free legally. > Tried installing Linux (debian, gentoo), but I get keybdev problems and > it says the kernel can't initialize my USB core, so I can't use my keyboard. I don't know if Linux supports the c3000. > Now, I am VERY new to pa-risc, and am not even totally sure that 11i is > compatible with the hardware. HP-UX 10.20, 11.0 and 11i all run on the c3000. > In any case, is there a place I can go download a compatible operating > system? I would prefer to run hpux on it. Then You should buy it, at least a CD kit. Goes cheap on ebay regularly. Don't go for 10.20 since it's out of support for some time now. Benjamin |
