Unfortunately our new HPUX servers do not have their backup device yet. Is
there a way to do a backup to disc and then copy it (or FTP it) to another
server?

Yes, you can. Just use make_net_recovery instead of make_tape_recovery, check
the manual for details.

You can, e.g. using fbackup to a file (man fbackup) You can create a recovery
DVD image (with recent Ignite-UX) and burn that (either locally or remote).
The latter is still a bit tricky however.

And finally there's still "rmt", the remote magnetic tape ;-)
