Default Shared FS

Hi,
i have a doubt and i would not mistake the choice...
we have 2 Hp-Ux 11i in blade on SAN storage, i need to share a
partition for both servers for sharing files (for Oracle E-Buisiness
Suites apps).
HP advise me that best filesystem solution is:

Veritas cluster filesystem + ServiceGuard

but ServiceGuard is needed ? doesn't VxFs cluster enough for share a
partition ?

thanks for your help

bye
Andrea

If you need a shared partition/mount point/file system/device which
has to be used from both server simultaneous then you have to check
what is supported from the application you are using it depends on
version, OS, Storage box and so on . If you need a High Availble file
system in which you have one stend-by server and one doing the job you
can use only SG.

here you can find more information:

Careful. Did they mean VxFS (Veritas filesystem) or CFS (Cluster
filesystem) or VxVM (Veritas Volume Manager)?

It is also possible that ServiceGuard is required for the shared disk -
but SG is included with 11i v2 and 11i v3. I'm not sure about 11i v1.

You didn't say which version of HP-UX you were using.

Also, sharing disks, you need to make sure that there is no write
conflicts - that is, only one write process.
