| Greetings, First, an HP-UX fact: When you Telnet into an HP-UX (10.20) system, pseudo-tty numbers are assigned "on the fly" or dynamically, beginning with ttyp0. The next login will be ttyp1 and the next one ttyp2, etc. They proceed hexidecimally up through ttypf and then begin on the "q"s (ttyq0 through ttyqf) and then the "r"s. After rebuilding my system from a recovery tape, the system now completely "skips" ttyp0, beginning with ttyp1. Certainly in the whole scheme of things this is not super critical. But does anyone know why this is happening and can it be fixed? Can the system be "repaired" so that telnet logins once again begin with ttyp0? Thank you! Stew |
