| Hi All, I started to work at this place which uses HPUX. I am used to Solaris. When using VI under Solaris, I could copy and paste several lines of code and such with no problems. However, under this HPUX, whenever it comes across a paranthese or a bracket, it starts to indent all the following lines as if it is trying to be smart and format the code, etc. This never happened under Solaris. Is there a way to turn this off? Thanks, Arthur |

VI has an 'autoindent' mode that can be enabled with one of the :set variables. You can turn that off with :set noai You can also add that to a $HOME/.exrc file to affect vi at startup. -- - [HP is committed to respecting your privacy.] For more information, visit http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/...e_privacy.html - or contact me at: [mike.stroyan@hp.com or HP Privacy Mailbox , 20555 SH 249, MS 040307 , Houston, Texas 77070] Mike Stroyan, mike.stroyan@hp.com |

| IN vi :set noai This will turn autoindent off. More then likely the system default is for it to be on. You can turn it off in your .rc file. amerar@iwc.net wrote: > Hi All, > > I started to work at this place which uses HPUX.
