I'm running a clean install of etch. When i run automatix2 It doesn't
seem to realize this. "This version of automatix is for debian 4.0r0
only"

I did run security updates which seems to change the release version
to 4.0r1. I suspect this must be the problem. Any ideas on how to work
around this?

I got caught by this once. Package not caught up with latest kernel. You
can force the install.

I had further issues, but buggered on and fixed em eventually.

Thanks, I guess I wasn't clear.

The package is installed. It just won't run! At startup, automatix
checks the version of debian. Since it doesn't find 4.0r0, it quits.

Yeah, finally I found it at:
/usr/lib/automatix2/distro_helpers.py

Changing one of the "versions" variables did it.

ah. Thats a check in the /etc/init.d/whatever file. Manually edit..
