| Santa gave me a new machine pre-installed with XP (I know I know). Anyways, I had a couple of CD's with Topologilinux 4.0 on it. I installed it and with it installed the GRUB bootloader to use it as a dual boot. Anyways, long story short it did not work properly and because it is only a week and a half since I got it I am a little nervous about screwing it up so quickly (that's supposed to happen.. but later). Anyways I deleted the Tlinux folder (topo is a distro that resides as a single file on the same drive as XP), and then followed instructions found on the web to boot into repair mode with my XP CD and use FIXMBR. The message saying the MBR was overwritten successfully came up and I thought all was well. However GRUB is still there and won't go away. Any suggestions? Is there any way to shorten the time delay before the default option boots (as a short term workaround)? How do I manually configure GRUB or manually remove it until I get a chance to install a full proper distro? Thanks for any help you can give me. RQ |
