Attempted translation: Hello, I am trying to login at the console on my RedHat 9 system, but my keystrokes are not echoed on the screen? Guessed assistance: Can you get the keyboard to do anything? Does the key combination to switch to another console screen work (e.g. crtl-alt-F1)? Can you toggle the caps-lock light? Is "scroll-lock" on? |

I'd check the cable. Did you get a warning from the BIOS during POST about "keyboard not detected"? Do you have gpm running? If so, then moving the mouse should give you a little text cursor at the system console. If gpm is running and moving the mouse doesn't give you a mouse pointer then you have plugged the keyboard into the mouse port and vice versa. |
