Default CD Label Software

Is there any software or templates available for the creation of CD
labels. Not the inserts, I have cdlabelgen. But for use with the AVERY
8692 CD Labels.

I tried googling, but no luck so far. It seems interesting that there is
a lot of tools available for burning CDs, but not making labels for them.
I hate having to boot into Windows just to make labels.

Don't use it this way much (since the rest of the family uses a
separate MS-XP machine that is available to me) but I was able to get
Mediaface installed and running under Wine with Redhat 9. Ran OK and
printed just fine to an HP940c printer.

I was kinda of hoping for a native linux app. I guess until I can find
one it is easier to use the Windblows software. Just installed wine and
now need to configure it. BLAH. Maybe I should try and write a label
program.

kcdlabel could be what you need.

It should be available at http://www.rpmfind.net

Bonne chance

There's an OpenOffice.org macro that can print cd labels:

http://pvdl.best.vwh.net/label.html

kover doesn't print cd labels, just jewel case covers.

Yes, get "glabels" -- I use it with the AVERY 8692 labels (and MANY
others) and it works great.

Thanks to all who replied. I downloaded and installed glabels, and it
looks like I might be able to get this to work. Still not quite like as
user friendly as some of the Windblows packages.

I am particularly happy with glabels because the save-file format is
XML and, over and above the GUI tools that come with the glabels program,
it is very easy to generate my own save-files (in XML) from database and
other programs and then use the batch version to print them.

glabels-batch -o chanteuse.ps -s 2 chanteuse.glabels

The above shell command will read the previously generated (such as
from a database or other program) glabels save-file (chanteuse.glabels)
and generate a two-page postscript output file (chanteuse.ps).
Similarly, the master template file is also in XML. This makes it
easy when I want to add my own templates.
See: /usr/local/share/glabels/predefined-labels.template

And, of course, glabels is "open source".
And, oh yeah, it's free.
