Default Compiling kernel for VMWare

Hi folks,

Can anyone tell me what set of device drivers I need to include in a
kernel to enable it to read the virtual-SCSI hard disk of a VMWare
virtual machine hosted on Windows?

I know this can be done, because I can boot fine if I use the kernel
from an install CD, but whenever I try to compile my own it panics
claiming it can't read the root filesystem. lspci shows the driver as
"SCSI: LSI Logic PCI-X", but I included PCI Express support and all 3
LSI Logic drivers and it still didn't work. (In fact I included ALL
the SCSI drivers and nothing worked, so I presume there's something
else missing somewhere else.) Can anyone help?

Thanks!

I don't know why there is a separate line of kernel drivers called
"message." Look for the fusion directory.

This wiki seems nice:
