Debian netboot problem on Sparcstation 20

Has anybody succeeded to start the Debian
40r3-Sparc-Netinst CD (Etch 20080218-14:33)
on a Sparcstation 20?

Mine crashes after booting when it attempts
to load the SCSI driver module. The hardware
works on customised kernel (v2.4).

Any pointers how to change the kernel on the
netboot CD?
