| Hi, After moving I switched from cable to DSL and could setup DSL without any problem. After upgrading to SuSE Linux 9.2 from SuSE Linux 9.0 DSL would no longer work. I have a Zykel P623-ME DSL modem. I plug my Ethernet card from my Linux Server and my Windows PC to a Switch and I connect the switch to the DSL-Modem. All through normal connection slots. I tried various things that I found in SuSE's Book but nothing worked. I did have to leave the Netscape browser because it also no longer worked correctly with the modem. Firefox works OK. I am able to connect to the Linux Server through my PC. Any suggestions ? Peter |

Firefox works OK. .... a switch or a router? a router provides a single point of entry to the ISP. a switch wont - a switch is just a smarter hub. if all the machines on the switch are powered up, only the first one that gets the IP from the ISP will have a 'valid' connection and all other machines wont be able to get an IP. well, unless your ISP allows multiple IP logins originating from a specify DSL modem's MAC. -- << http://michaeljtobler.homelinux.com/ >> Brain fried -- core dumped |
