| greetings......let me share a little experience with y'all: Being a relative newbie, I liketo experiment: I got my hands on a 9 (yes!) year old Intergraph server with dual p133 cpu, dual SCSI, and a lot of goodies on-board...must've cost a fortune back then..... Anyway, I managed to gather 80 mb of parity ram (hard to find these days) clocked up to 166 mhz, threw in a handful of SCSi hd's and wanted to install WIN2K server and Mandrake 8.2 So, having lurked here awhile, I knew I had to install W2K first...CDrom won't boot..ok, so I make four install disks, boot up, and the machine freezes after the 4th disk..try again, same story, try 4 times, throw the disks out of the window (!) - the server is too heavy to throw...who needs windows anyway? So, boot the Mandrake boot disk, start installing.....no problems at all...not even when I found I'd put an old ISA video card into the machine that couldn't display enough colours....so I throw in a S3 virge, run xconfig, and voila! up and runnning. I am sooooo tired of M$ so what, may you ask, is my problem ? none really, I run Linux :-) But is there a small display thingy, like task manager, that can let me see the workload of the 2 cpu's ? See how they're both performing thanks for your time sincerely Adonai |
