The reasoning behind having the CPU do the audio processing with an internal modem is that the internal modem can be made as cheaply as possible. For an external modem leaving the audio processing to the CPU makes no sense considering the amount of other processing required just for the USB protocol. |

They are a usb winmodem w/ a pci-usb interface on the same board. Of course, they won't work with win95 and work like shit on win98R1. |
