| Hi all, I have a dual booting Windows/Linux Mandrake [ a older version 7.0 ? ]( on the same box ) set up. I can transfer files from W's to Mandrake but I want to be able to go the other direction as well. How can I transfer files from Linux to Windows 98? I prefer not having to take the files externally - for example on a floppy or a CD. I want a way to directly transfer them. Is there a way ? Please be as specific as possible as Iam VERY new to Linux and I would appreciate as much detail as possible. Thank You for your help Michael |

You should be able to read from and write to FAT32 partitions with Mandrake 7 although it's so old I can't remember if there are any issues. You can then work on the files on the FAT32 partition. Google for Explore2fs if you're using ext2/3 partitions to get files directly from Mandrake's partitions in Windows. -- Andy. |

| In comp.os.linux.setup, wavelength uttered these immortal words: > Thanks for your answer Andy but what does " ext2/3 " mean ? > Iam a NEW BEE It's shorthand for "ext2 or ext3". They're Linux filesystems, in a similar way that FAT32 and NTFS are Windows filesystems, and the default type for a lot of distros. ext3 is a journalised filesystem, ext2 isn't but apart from that they are the same. I don't think Mandrake 7 supports ext3 so you'll probably be using ext2. -- Andy. |
