| Please help. Going quietly mad. Installing Suse 9.0. Installation seems to be OK - graphics OK if I set resolution to 1024 X xxxx during installation. BUT when I rebbot - the graphics are completely garbled. The only way I can get around this is to re-istall - but any reboot screws the graphics again. And another thing - can't seem to do anything with the ethernet - Suse detects the hardware, but when I try to ping my ADSL modem I just get "Network unreachable". I really do not want to go back to Windows.... -- Phil |

I had the exact same problem with my SN41G2. The work around was to hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and then ENTER, once the graphics had settled down (I presume that the login prompt would have been displayed if the graphics were working). This brought up the login prompt with the graphics working fine. The only thing I can think that was the problem was that booting staight into KDE was causing problems (my system is set to boot straight in since there is only a single user), and that CTRL-ALT-DEL ENTER was logging me back out. Anyway, I solved the problem (along with a related problem that Suse couldn't see my onboard USB ports) by removing the additional USB 2 PCI card from the machine. Obviously some conflict in the hardware on Linux. > And another thing - can't seem to do anything with the ethernet - Suse > detects the hardware, but when I try to ping my ADSL modem I just get > "Network unreachable". I'm hopefully getting broadband soon, so please post and let me know if you have found a solution to this problem. -- Ant... |

| If you don't mention what chipset your graphics card has, and you don't mention how have you set up your network interface card (DHCP or fixed address) then nobody will be able to help you... I suggest you start to read this: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html Paulo Rocha Phil wrote: > Please help. Going quietly mad. |

Do [CTRL][ALT][F1] login as root do 'init 3' do 'sax2' configure with correct settings when progran closes do 'init 5' do [CTRL][ALT][F1] logout [CTRL][ALT][F7] -- houghi http://www.houghi.org My experience with SuSE Linux 9.1 > The businessworld is like prison and M$ made everybody their bitch. |

What does your XF86Config look like? > And another thing - can't seem to do anything with the ethernet - Suse > detects the hardware, but when I try to ping my ADSL modem I just get > "Network unreachable".
