KDE forgets some settings

Hi all,

after trying to install numerous distros with no lucck, ifinally managed to
install Knoppix 5.0 onto my harddisk. However, KDE just refuses to remember
some of the settings i use, The screen resolution for example always
defaults back to 1280*1024. Also the sound volume doesn`t want to stay on
max. Any hints?

And yes, i`m new to linux.:-)
