Default Kino IEEE 1394 subsystem is not responding

Specs: FC4. Download Kino, it compiled ok.

lsmod | grep 1394
dv1394 24717 0
video1394 24205 0
ohci1394 39177 2 dv1394,video1394
raw1394 33069 0
eee1394 302873 4 dv1394,video1394,ohci1394,raw1394
-----------
ls -l /dev| grep 1394
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 171, 0 Dec 4 15:21 dv1394
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 172, 0 Dec 4 15:45 video1394
-----------------------
Edit, pref, ieee1394 - "The IEEE 1394 Subsystem is not responding".
And when I try to open an AVI file - ..not a DV. want to inport? OK.

I'm having the same problem and postedtonight (Sun 4 Dec) to
alt.os.linux.mandrake asking for help.

I didn't have the /dev/*1394 device files, so I created them:
# mknod -m 666 /dev/video1394 c 171 16
# mknod -m 666 /dev/raw1394 c 172 32
believing these to be the correct major and minor numbers.

Still didn't work, though.
