Is the directory writable? Is the partition writable? You have a lock directory. Look at it. Files in /dev are mostly device files, and files have read, write, and execute permissions (man ls). Most files also have attributes (man lsattr and man chattr), but not, I believe, those in /dev > > how can i uinlock there files? > If there is a file such as LCK..ttyS4 (the lock file for my modem) in /var/lock, you can remove it if you have permission. Normally, you should not do this, but close the connection and then the software will automatically release the lock for you. -- .~.
