| I'm completely new to linux. Downloaded all isos today and burnt them all onto cds. I can't find where to go from there. Can anyone here tell me where to go from there? (You can also just direct me to mandrake linux readme, I couldn't find that.) -uofconn11 |

You need to "Burn as Image". What software are you using? Perhaps we can help you a little better. -- "Shift to the left, shift to the right ! Then you have a fine coster. When you get done with a burn of an iso, you are supposed to have a copy of a cd not an iso folder. So it should have sometning like autorun.inf images isolinux pkg-10.0-Official-download-i586.idx COPYING index.htm LICENSE.txt README.txt doc install.htm Mandrake release-notes.txt dosutils INSTALL.txt misc VERSION clicking on the index.htm with your file explorer should get you started. |

Okay. I finished that. It turned out my cd burning program didn't burn the isos right so i used a different one. I've been having trouble with creating partitions now. I tried to use the instructions given in the help files, but it didn't work. Is there a program that I could use? Thanks. |

You can try using your current operating system's tools. You can buy a commercial product like Partition Magic. You defrag your system first, then use PM to shrink a partition to create the free space. For the cost of PM you could buy another drive. You can find a partitioning tool for download. The instructions work fine. That's why they're there! YOU don't work - so show us how you work and we'll fix you. Tell us what you see and what you do, and what you wish to do. > Is there a program that I could > use? Thanks. Yes - a partitioner. It comes in the installer. And standalone. Suitable partitioners include fdisk, cfdisk, parted, and so on. But why not simply EXPLAIN what you see and what you do? Peter |
