Default MDK 10-Printer stopped printing

Hi,
I've a local printer (HP DeskJet 960C) connected to the parallel port of a
MDK 10 (OE) laptop. Initially I could print fine from MDK. Then, some day
it stopped printer from ANY application (won't even print test pages).
I entered PrintDrake, removed the printer and tried to reinstall it. At that
stage the wizard did NOT find ANY printer connected. I skipped the auto
detection phase and installed manually, and still no prints.
The hardware is OK (dual boot-prints fine from within Win2000).

Please advise!

TIA

Could it be that BIOS settings for parallel port is changed so that CUPS
(printing system) is unable to detect printer anymore? AFAIR parallel port
should either be set for "Standard" or "ECP", but it shouldn't be "EPP".
But I'm not sure on this.

Another reason could be that cups is not working anymore. See if cups is
currently running, and if set to be autostarted on boot (drakconf ->
System -> Services) Also the log files in /var/log/cups may help. If it is
cups, and you can't figure out what is going wrong, perhaps removing and
reinstalling cups may help.

(P.S. manipulated NG list as my server doesn't host a.o.l.mandrake)
