| I am looking for an iso of a minimal linux distro for a 386: with 8mb ram, 430 mb hd, pentium 75mhz currently has windoz3.1/dos. please reply to newsgroup & comprecyclerftc@yahoo.com thanks in advance! |

| Thanks everyone for the input so far. My solution will be to get some more ram out of another non-functioning box. I am now running into another problem. There seems to be no way in the bios to tell this box to boot from CD. It does have DOS installed and working, but I am not a dos person by any means. How can I make it fire up the iso image on the cd? I can see it is there, just can't figure out how to make it execute? I tried looking for an updated bios, but no luck so far on that. Hopefully someone out there knows the dos command to ececute that image... Thanks again. It's a fun experiment to see if I can get this old dinosauer doing something worthwhile rather than ending up in a landfill. If it is only for home usage you can probably also put a dns caching server |

What I am wanting to do with it first is to secure it as best I can, then I am going to try to break into it, then resecure it. I just found a free 3 gig drive, so some more possabilites come up. Once I have it locked up tight, I'm going to see what else I can get away with using it for. |
