| I went and bought a new Intel MB (DQ965GF) with 4 SATA drives. I downloaded the FC6 ISO and burned a DVD. Totally clean install, all new everything. Select Laug/KB US.. Next screen says, "Installation Method" "What type of media contains the package to be install.." "Local CDROM/HD/HFS img/FTP/HTTP". This is an odd one. Never seen this one. why if your installing from a ISO image on DVD would it ask that?? If it just mounted the temp image from the DVD, where else would the packages be?? I select "Local CDROM". Next screen says, "No Driver found" "Unable to find any devices for the type needed for this installation type" "Would you like to manually set your driver or use a drivers disk?" Why does it need a driver? And for what? Is this because all four of my hard drives are SATA drives? Is it asking for a RAID/SATA driver? All 4 SATA drives show up in the BIOS alright. Any suggestions on how to get past this? -Bill |

It is embarrassingly common even for people who have been doing it for years to burn the iso itself instead of files. |

Obviously you are passed the stage of having the files. First, make sure you did the media check. I have RH9 pass the media check and still not install so that is no guarantee. Second. let me say I could never install RH9 making it the worst and have had three problems with FC6 installs making it the second worst while all the rest have been clean and trouble free. I finally did get FC6 installed by starting over rather than upgrading from FC5 and restoring everything as backups. I should have stuck with 4. Third if all else fails try a new file download and burning again and retrying. That seemed to help with RH9 switching back and forth between two burns but in the end failed so you might want to skip this possibility. Fourth, FC4 was an absolutely clean and trouble free install and if all else fails I suggest going back to that until FC7 comes along. I did not try FC5 so cannot comment on it. Myself I went from RH5.x through RH8 and jumped to FC4 and now FC6 and regret moving forward to FC6. I did the RH installs on three machines of widely differing origins so was not riding a string of luck from one source. Also one presumes you have plain vanilla hardware which the mention of the MB satisfies but is there anything exotic involved? Not that I can comment on the exotic as I only buy when prices have settled because things are plain vanilla. Exotic means you were first in line to buy so the software folks have caught up with its quirks. And as a last desperate suggestion try unplugging one or more of the SATAs and try again or download the latest Enterprise version and see if that can handle them all. You do not have an expected civilian configuration. |

The only thing that I can possibly think of is the 4 Hard Drives which are all SATA plugged into the MB. There's 2 DVD drives (master/slave) on the IDE ribbon. A few websites claim this MB is Linux friendly. Did some search on Goggle for that. > And as a last desperate suggestion try unplugging one or more of the > SATAs and try again or download the latest Enterprise version and see if > that can handle them all. The only thing that I can think of is there's some kind of RAID needed for the install. I just want the 4 SATA drives as JBODs with one being the root OS on it. Thanks -Bill |

Instead of asking me for a driver, it went right to the media test screen, in which I did, just to be safe. Afterwards, I went thought the install, same as normal, choose my set up! Only hiccup. After the install, it choose a high res that my monitor didn't support. The screen kept flickering, but I was able to set it back down to 800x600. Thanks.. -bill |
