| First I would like to say Hello to everyone, I am pretty new to Linux and I am planning to install a few different Distro's of Linux on a AMD Athalon 700 Mzh system with a 20 Gig HD with 128 Meg of Ram. I have copies of several Distros that I would like to install, Mandrake 9.2 , Debian 30r2 are the two that I would like to install First. My concern is I do not have the Hard Drive Partitioned yet. If I use the Mandrake Distribution first I know for sure I can set up partitions for the OS during the install. By doing this though am I going to cause myself problems with the second Install of Debian ? Would it be better for me to FDISK the Drive using Dos version of fdisk prior to installing any of the Linux OS's ? If I do Fdisk the drive using Dos Fdisk I would need to create a Primary and then a Extended partition, by doing this I cannot remove or repartition that extended partition again without having to remove the primary partition or am I wrong. I do not have 3rd part software such as Partition Magic available to me at this time, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for your help and I look forward to joining the Linux Groups / Society. Rmul1966 |
