| My OS is Debian3.0.r2 I installed X-Windows and desktop environment using tasksel. Why the OS is still running in "plain-mono" command line mode? Am I running the shell in full screen mode? How can I get to the user friendly environment? Thanx |

Try to run startx. If it works, you probably should install an graphical login manager like xdm, wdm, kdm or gdm. If it doesn't work, configure X properly (use dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86). best regards Andreas Janssen -- Andreas Janssen <andreas.janssen@bigfoot.com> PGP-Key-ID: 0xDC801674 Registered Linux User #267976 http://www.andreas-janssen.de/debian-tipps.html |
