| Ok Mandrake 10.0 Official with updates, booting the 'p3-smp-64' kernel or the 2.4.25 Kernel 'linux-entreprise on menu. Both kernels are giving problems with the soundcard (an onboard SiS job) both will work intermitently (although thats probably more acurately said as until something ... then never again until a reboot). I've looked at the output of the various commands that are suggested in trouble shooting in Drakemenu Sound - no errors apparent I've also looked atall the files in \var\log - nothing seems to stand out as related to sound there let a lone problems. Problem 2 - possibly related Totem works on streaming audio fine - Xmms does not seem to (I say that because I have not spent huge amounts of time trying to get it going dark blue on black with cryptic menus and no apparent help doesn't do much for me). |

Just a possibility but do you have kmix set up properly? You have to have the little red lights at the bottom working properly before you will get sound.
