I am possibly able to provide som assistance after you tell me what it all is. I know what USB is, if it is Universal Serial Bus, and perhaps "s/w" is software. But what is a powermate? What is "doco"? "for serial ports"? What serial ports? What is Nut? A quick google on the internet gives some links that might be usefull: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Griffin...d_Kernel_2.6.x If you don't have gentoo linux, there may be some differences. If you have Fedora Core 4, you do not need to recompile the kernel, I guess. I have the modules powermate.ko and evdev.ko anyway, so I would probably only need to edit the hotpulg files. http://www.eviloverlord.net/powermate.html but linux-2.4 is not current anymore. Watch out for things that do not apply. -Enrique |

It's quite simple - there's a Nut and a USB device in the same area. One of them needs help. I think it should be offered - would he like one crack with the hammer or two? > But what is a powermate? I can't help wondering why a person would believe that that rubbish he spouts should be understandable to anyone! Does he think we know what a "powermate 3105" is? Is it a PDA? A portable? A UPS? And what the heck does he mean by "powermate s/w"? Linux software? If not, so what? He might go out and spend some money on a usb driven serial port. Peter |
