| Hi everyone. I just upgraded my computer from an Athlon on an abit kt7a (using a via chipset) to an Athlon 64 using the nForce 3 chipset. Everything else in the computer has staying the same. Ever since the upgrade I've been having sound problems with my Sound Blaster Live. I used to use the OSS emu10k1 kernel driver (2.4.26) and things worked wonderfully. Things started going bad after the upgrade. At first, some applications outputting to OSS would freeze and play the first 0.5 seconds of a the sound clip in an endless loop. The apps affected included xine, realplayer. XMMS and mplayer worked fine. Other means of playback (e.g. artsd) also worked. I couldn't record audio any more. The applications appeared to be stuck waiting for data from the audio device. Rezound blocked, and mencoder and transcode (I use them to record tv shows) also blocked. cat /dev/dsp sits there without doing anything. Hoping to solve the problem I have installed the ALSA drivers. Things are worse now. I still can't record, and in addition artds and gstreamer won't play anymore. XMMS works fine (through alsa) though. Does anyone have suspicions about what may be causing this problems, or even how I can go about investigating them? TIA Luca |

However, I still can't record. The symptoms when trying to record are as described above. Luca |
