Default Palm 505 linux

I'm trying to get my palm m505 to work in Linux... i'd like to use the
jpilot program eventually, but that's for another day. Right now, i'd
just like to use some program to sync my palm.

I've read
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/doc...html#PILOTLINK
so please don't send me there.

First of all, how can I tell where my palm is connected in the /dev/
tree? /dev/ttyUSB1? Something else? I'm using a usb connection.

Any easy way to veryify that my usb module is working properly?

I've been trying the pilot-xfer backup programs, or just -l, or many
things, and nothing has indicated that it has found my palm yet.

I'm using pilot-link 0.9.5.0-8, and debian linux, with A7N8X deluxe
mobo.

I'm really new to this, and the palm is the last battle I must win
before switching to linux completely, so any help is greatly
appreciated. I'm sure more info is needed to start, and I'll be glad to
give it once I know what it is.

When i've been trying pilot-xfer /dev/ttyUSB0 -l, I get Unable to bind
to port, no such file or directory... but /dev/ttyS1 or S0 both get a
press hotsync button now, which i do, and then i get nothing...

What other information would I need to specify to allow someone to help
me here?
