| Hello all, I have put together a pc with a 120 Gb and a 13.6 Gb drive on one IDE controller. I also have a 670 Mb drive as the master on the 2nd IDE controller with my CD-RW drive. I'm trying to understand the best approach for laying out partitions and file systems to install the latest Debian (woody?). In particular I ran across one challenge doing this the last time. Last time I tried, Debian required quite a bit of space in /var and/or /var/tmp/, on the order of 150 Mb or more if I remember. But this much space isn't needed after installation, correct? What's the best strategy to handle this? Is it: create, e.g. a 200 Mb partition, mount /var/tmp, do the install. Then, mount /var/tmp somewhere else (another partition or on another disk) for normal use, and repartition the original drive to reclaim the original 200 Mb for use as part of another partition? Many thanks, V |
