Default PCMCIA

Just did a fresh install of SuSE 9.0, on a clean hd in a Compaq Armada
laptop. It isn't booting, it has stopped at: Starting kernel PCMCIA. Any
ideas why?

Hard to tell. But SuSE 9.0 is pretty out of date. Is there any reason not to
use 10.0? Integrating laptop support has been a big part of the switch to
2.6 kernels, which I believe the SuSE 9.0 release did not include.

Can you run interactive boot up and, if the system starts, have a look to
the logs?

No. It stops at this point and doesn't boot. I left it on over night even
and it hadn't booted by morning.

Then, boot in rescue mode, remove PCMCIA service from boot time and
reboot. When the system is up, try to launch that service by hand and see
what happens.
