Default PnP in Bios

I will be installing Suse 10.0 and it will be the only OS on my machine.

I am getting mixed signals from what I've been reading online. Some
sites say that, in the BIOS, I need to change the "PnP Aware OS" to read
"No." Other sites claim this is no longer necessary.

Whom am I to believe?

Pretty much all OSs have their own facilities for detecting and
configuring PnP devices. Therefore, the "other sites" are correct: you no
longer need your BIOS to pass PnP information to your OS (Suse in this
case).

Actually it is mostly an issue in "dual boot" machines. There the goal is
to get consistent configuration and device accessibility for both OS's.
