Hi folks,

I'm using the default config of Red Hat 8.0 to print to my Red Hat 8.0
printer via Jetdirect. I'm using the Red Hat Printer Config in Gnome
to setup the printer, and here's what I've tried.

When I choose JetDirect and setup the printer using HP LaserJet
5M/Postscript, I get "40 HP MIO Error" and nothing comes out.

I'll change the driver to HP LaserJet/Postscript (which is a generic
driver), it does print, but at 300x300, so images are very grainy.

So I decided to try lpd and send the data directly to printer. I
changed the Queue Type to Unix Printing and put my printer IP as
Server and Queue as 'raw'. I tried both drivers - 5M and generic,
same as above - and it says "Processing Job" then "Ready" with no
printjob.

I researched linuxprinting.org and found several folks with the same
problem on the same printer --

followed their suggestion, which is where my above attempt at using
Unix Printing came from, but no luck. I've yet to find any solution,
even though these HP LaserJet 5N drivers are supposed to be fully
compatible.

Any suggestions? If I can't get it going via Jet Direct, I'll pick-up
a parallel cable and maybe that'll do something different. I just
hate to mess with that since the printer is nowhere near my computer.

I am printing to a LaserJet 5L with Mandrake 9.0. To get a satisfactory
result, I had to select the "Ghostscript + ljet4(en) driver.
