| I am having problems getting my Canon BJC-2100 printer to work correctly under RedHat 9. I can install the printer using the gui KDE tool, however when I try and print a test page, it prints out double-width. I've just moved over to Linux and everything else is sorted out; the printer is the last thing to do. Any feedback appreciated. -- David ( @priz.co.uk ) |

One rather *surprising* thing I found with RH 8 (and later) versions, CUPS, and USB ports: it *just plain works* (and works better than connecting via LPT). If given a choice between LPT and USB, if using LPT, consider switching to USB, as I seriously suspect that CUPS (as opposed to LPR) is much more PnP-aware (in fact, I didn't have to tell CUPS diddley-squat about my printer, an HP Derskjet 640C).
