| hello world, b/c my aic7xxx driver is going astray, I would like to know how I can avoid to have it loaded during boot. Currently, booting freezes when that driver - which I not necessarily need - loads. tyia -- __o -\<, timo77 _(_)/(_)________________________ |

| Comment out the module from /etc/modules.conf and re-make your initial ramdisk with "mkinitrd". With lilo, you'll have to re-install the boot loader to use the new 'initrd=' (rerun /sbin/lilo). With grub, If you don't use the same filename as before, you'll have to update the grub.conf file. --John On Sun, 07 Nov 2004 22:43:51 +0100, Timo Rainio <foxster1-REMOVETHIS-@gmx.net> wrote: >hello world, > >b/c my aic7xxx driver is going astray, I would like to know how I can >avoid to have it loaded during boot. | ok, but how would I edit /etc/modules.conf if i cannot boot any more? Anyway - I am able to boot again. It did boot when I removed the adaptec-card, then I cleaned it from quite some dust, re-inserted and voila, module loads fine as if nothing had happened. still - thanks for your hint. ..Timo JohnInSD At san DOT rr dot COM wrote: > Comment out the module from /etc/modules.conf and re-make your initial ramdisk > with "mkinitrd".
