Default Raid with A8V-Deluxe

Hello I am having a problem with a
ASUS A8V-Deluxe Motherboard and onboard raid
I am trying to install Fedora Core 4 64-bit

If i am using the Nvidia Raid or the Sil Raid i go into the raid bios and
setup array, then boot Fedora installer
it shows the two hard drives but doesnt show the raid array as one disk.

am I a idiot or is something wrong?

Dunno, but you should be aware that lots of so called onboard
"raid" controllers are just fake (soft) raid that will only work
with doze. I'd double-check this for yours, wouldn't surprise me,
but you can still use Linux softraid (md devices) which works
pretty well.

The A8V series is soft raid. You might as well use Linux built in software
raid instead of trying to do Nvidia/Sil.

AFAIK almost all onboard raid controllers are just fake raid.
Check prices for a real hardware raid controllers. A good choice
for SATA is usually 3ware, if you want to go with SCSI you can't
do wrong with Adaptec. Again double check if they'll work with
Linux before buying anything, they usually should but it can't
hurt to check. This isn't doze were any crap will work more or
less.

Good luck
