Default Rar files

New to Linux and like it more than the old windows. I am using Fedora Core
4 and it seems to handle zip files and such nicely but not rar files. Can
anyone point me to a program that will handle rar files, I don't really
like command line programs so a GUI program would be appreciated.

Thanks
Manta

There is a Linux version of Roshal's rar/unrar. I can't remember where to get
it right now, but google might help. You could get it with FTP or http from
duinheks.xs4all.nl, but my link is rather slow.

I'm afraid this is a command line program. I never checked if there is a GUI
program because I don't really like them

Groetjes,

Hans.

Do a google search on .rar files. It should point you to several
solutions.

Hello,

- rar for linux from http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm to compile or
from http://rpm.pbone.net <= not last version (command-line but
necessary for the GUI)

- file-roller as GUI for extract (never succeed compress-split with GUI,
use command-line), file-roller is the gnome equivalent for ark for kde.

- unrar from http://rpm.pbone.net

Bye.
