Dear NGers,

First of all, thanks for the given advice.

We no longer assume that the raid controllers are the cause of our problems.

With 'mk2efs -n' we got the information where the superblocks were
positioned. We used that information in 'e2fsck -B xxxxx', but without any
success.
We alse performed a 'badblocks' check but again without luck.

When booting mandrake at some moment we get three messages that state there
is no space for
/bin/date
/bin/uname
/bin/cat

Some time later we get the message that the space for /var is 0 and that
amount is not the same as ????? (a value somewhere in the 50,000).
At some point during the booting proces we see the message that
'partmon' failed to start.

Is there any hope we can revive our system without reinstalling it all??

Is there any 3rd party software that could help us, like Partition Magic, or
tomsrtbt??

Tia,

pablo k
