| Dea All; I'm trying to install red_Hat Linux on my desktop. While i'm installing it, and in the phase when Linux is detecting the hardware specifications, my monitor shows an error messege (input signal is out of range), and i had to stop the installation by restarting the PC. although that, when Linux is detecting the hardware specifications, he detecds also the monitor, he writes down its mark. does anyone have an idea about how to solve this problem, knowing that my monitor type is LG FLATRON LCD 1515S. Thanks Hany |

Not really but one might have some idea, if you tell us at least which version of RH you are installing and what kind of system you are using? Did you try using text mode to install? You didn't told which kind of system you are using (CPU/mobo). > no i didn't try the text mode, do u think it might go this way? Perhaps, but it's you who is in front of the system, not me. -- Michael Heiming (GPG-Key ID: 0xEDD27B94) mail: echo zvpunry@urvzvat.qr | perl -pe 'y/a-z/n-za-m/' -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFBWpnSAkPEju3Se5QRArdYAKCZ8Nm6Ivb32PQd3gZTQX 7cSJBWKwCggcZr Pz/oQ9kR4Yz7lwTwaXw1a/Y= =0QKT -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

At this stage there is a third option - 640x480 installation (F3). When I did a RH9 installation I found that the installation process couldn't provide a suitable video output for hires graphic or text mode (as shown in the log). I was forced to use the lowres installation path and later adjust the video parameters through hardware setup for a higher resolution display. Note:- I had previously run KNOPPIX (3.2?) on this system and it had worked reasonably well so it was just a RH9 installation issue. (Note ASUS TUSL-M all in one motherboard, 256 MB shared RAM) As Michael Heiming stated RH9 is past the end of support and has been replaced by the Fedora project (at Fedora 2, soon to be 3) With regard to RH9, its age is showing with a number of packages needing refreshing to deal with newer hardware. For RH9 support try <http://www.fedoralegacy.org/> -- Regards, David |
