Sony VAIO PCG812 Notebook: PII233, 192mbRAM, 30GbHD

Is this chip too slow for Red Hat 9?

However, running either of the two Desktop Managers (Gnome or KDE) will
seem sluggish. Try a different lighter weight Desktop like Fluxbox or
IceWm instead.

You won't be happy, RH 9 has a pretty big RAM footprint.

May I suggest 7.3 with the latest OS and especially kernel updates? I've
been building kernels lately for 8.0 and 9.0 with the ACPI patches
compiled in, I'd be happy to send you an SRPM.
