Hi,

I have RH7.2 and I have no problems when I log in as root.

However, when I log in as a user, the sound has a lot of static. I log
out, log back in as root, sound problem gone. Log out, log back in as
user, static in the sound.

How can I troubleshoot this?? What's potentially causing the problem??

Unsure what you mean with "static". However, if things are working as
root and not as normal users, it's usually related to permission
problems, presumably /dev/dsp /dev/mixer* and/or whatever else is
related for you soundcard. Check/fix those and see if that helps.

RH 7.2 sound problem for users
