 Second serial ATA drive does not work Hello everybody! We have a linux server, installed with Debian 3.1r2 (Kernel 2.6.8) with a serial ATA-drive (80 GB). Everything works fine. Now we have put in a second serial ATA-drive with a capacity of 500 GB. This drive is not recognized by the operating system. As far as i know, lba48 is integrated in the kernel since version 2.6. In the bios S/ATA and P/ATA is activated, since the DVD drive should be recognized too. Can anybody give us a hint, how we can use our second harddrive? Greetings, Volker      |

Have you downloaded and run the diags from the hardware manufacturer of the hard drive? later, charles..... |

Both drives are listed. > Greetings, Volker Make sure the kernel you are using supports sata. Should since it sees the first one. What were the results of the diag program? What make and model is the motherboard? What make and model are the sata hd's? Try the latest version of Ubuntu 6.06 live to see if it recognizes the drives. later..... |
