Have you booted Knoppix? In my experience it configures its connection automatically. -- OS squared: open software times open standards. |

Maybe we'll be able to help with "some kind of solution." BTW, your list of groups is screwed up. -- OS squared: open software times open standards. |

| my windows os is configured to use VPN in the cable modem internet connection i remember that when i tried to configure internet access with Red Hat i had to MANUALLYtype the ISP server IP address. the fact that i did not succeede in conecting drove me to try the recommended Knoppix system. how could Knoppix guess the IP address alone? i would like some simplified explannation on where and how this is done. for now i get unable to access (whichever web site address i mark) and sometimes "no access to port 80" (or was it "port 80 is not configured correctly"?) it is difficult to shutdown windows and load Knoppix for each individual configuration. i am mearly asking for help on a beginner's level. be gentle with me... thank you |

I have to manually install drivers thru the "expert" install (Download the Knoppix cheat codes if you don't know what this is) when I load Knoppix 3.6 If your NIC is recognized, I have no suggestions because Knoppix is great about being Internet ready (again, if all hardware is recognized).
