Jason,
This is all the information I could find on it from the Gateway web site.
Mike

Chipset: Yamaha 715 / 704

Volume control: Rotary hardware control on left side of computer.
Rotating towards rear increases volume.

Speakers: Two Altec-Lansing A2524 stereo speakers built into palm-rest

Microphone: Omni-directional microphone in middle of plastic panel in
front of keyboard.

Audio connectors: Microphone In, Line In, Line Out, Headphone Out.

Audio compression: ADPCM, ESPCM compression available for lower bit rates

MIDI In and Out: Via joystick and MIDI port on rear of chassis.

To install sound on my 9100 I had to start in run level 3 and run
sndconfig from there. sndconfig was on my install disk, but I was
not using Rethat.
