| Hi, after managing to print http://panda.mostang.com/sane/sane-mfgs.html on a few pages, I went out and looked for a new scanner, the light of my old SCSI scanner broke some time ago and of course it wasn't possible to get a spare part.;( "EPSON Perfection 1260/Photo USB" was the first one supported I could find. Updated some packages (The ones coming with RH 7.3 were too old): sane-frontends-1.0.11-1.rh7 xsane-0.91-1 sane-backends-devel-1.0.12-1 xsane-gimp-0.91-1 sane-backends-1.0.12-1 Astonishing, there is GUI-sw directly from Epson (iscan-1.5.2-1) working fine too: http://www.epkowa.co.jp/english/linux_e/linux.html From /etc/modules.conf: alias char-major-180 scanner options scanner vendor=0x04b8 product=0x011d The following modules are needed: scanner 10976 0 usb-uhci 24132 0 (unused) usbcore 76992 1 [scanner usb-uhci visor usbserial] Now the scanner should be recognized: $ scanimage -L device `epkowa:/dev/usb/scanner0' is a Epson GT-7300 flatbed scanner device `plustek:/dev/usb/scanner0' is a Epson Perfection 1260/Photo USB flatbed scanner Works great within gimp. Happy scanning! -- Michael Heiming Remove +SIGNS and www. if you expect an answer, sorry for inconvenience, but I get tons of SPAM |
